In the morning light (Copy)

'thank you for our beautiful hours, [for T], 2018.  In situ in the bedroom.

Stayed in bed for an extra hour this morning.
Reading.
Drinking coffee.
Watching the gorgeous morning light fall on this painting.

This is my very first actual painting and I'm very proud of it.
I wasn’t going to sell it.
In the catalogue for the show I wrote:
“P.O.A - aka I”m not sure if I want to sell it… if you like it, let’s talk about it.”

Well, lo and behold, at the preview, a woman who has an amazing eye for art and a most excellent art collection approached me about buying it… plus her partner is a very very good painter himself… and I was just so ridiculously chuffed that these two people who know their stuff rated my painting enough to buy it that I agreed to sell it to them on the spot.

So now, I’m taking lots of photographs of it and enjoying it while I can. It’s going to a good home but it’s very different to sell an artwork you can’t reproduce. I’m so used to working in the photographic medium where even if I sell the whole edition [5], I keep an artist proof for myself to have for ever and ever…

But I’ve always found that having the strength to let go of things makes room for new life to appear. [I'll have to keep painting, eh]

This artwork is “thank you for our beautiful hours, 2018 [for T].

The words read:
thank you for our beautiful hours
for those walls that came tumbling down
It likely won’t come again
of that I’m most aware
but as I’ve already told you
you made your mark on me
you over there, me right here
let’s say cheers
to room number six
and the light through that curtain
breaking.
