Words are as important as air to me. I’ve been working with them to make art and poetry for decades now. I create artwork using the words that I write, draw those words in shapes that express how it is that I feel. I love books but I wanted to see my words writ large, to see them everyday on the wall.

This workshop is a chance for me to share my love of words with you, to show you how to express how you feel through not only the words you write but also by the shape you draw them in. I want to help you createyour own visual poetry.

No skill or experience required.

All you need is a love of art and words, and a willingness to have fun. Leave with an artwork made with your very own hands.

HOW IT ROLLS

Small class with plenty of one-on-one time with me.

A chance to leave everything else at the door and get creative.

All fun no responsibility.

All materials supplied.

Hearty snacks and cuppas provided throughout the workshop.

WHAT TO WEAR

Leave your fabulous white shirt at home. Wear an outfit that can handle

the odd wayward bit of charcoal or pastel or ink or all of the above.

WHERE IT’S AT

We’ll be working at my studio. It’s calm here. Relaxed.

Fleur Wickes Studio, 76 Constable Street, Newtown, Wellington

ON THE CLOCK

The workshop will begin on the dot of 11am. You’re welcome to arrive 15 minutes early to settle in, have a cuppa, choose a seat, have a chat.

PARKING

The parking directly in front of the studio is in a ten minute parking zone, so you’ll need to allow time to find one of the many 180 minute parks on the surrounding streets.

Minimum numbers are required for this workshop; should the minimum numbers fall short, your payment will be refunded in full.

Due to the small number of participants in the workshop, no refunds can be given if you’re unable to attend. If you give me enough notice, I will try to fill your place, and will then refund you if this is able to happen.
