HOW THE V.I.C SESSIONS ROLL

Fleur Wickes is the facilitator of the sessions, and brings her 33 years as a self-represented creative to the table in offering her support//advice and on-the-ground knowledge of what it’s like to be a visual creative running a successful business.

The strength in the sessions is also in the group of VIC’s getting together and sharing their questions, knowledge and experience.

6pm-6.30 F.W discusses the topic for the session, and offers her thoughts.

6.30-7pm Question time! F.W answers questions relating to the topic

7-7.30 The V.I.Cs talk with each other, commune, answer each other’s questions, and generally enjoy hanging out.

Session 1: ESTABLISHING A POINT OF VIEW

Starting at the beginning.

A discussion on what having a point of view/point of difference means in business.

Why it’s necessary.

How to establish it.

Bring to the session:

a/ bring a piece of your artwork/product to show the group, so we can get a feel for who you are as a creative.

b/ a paragraph stating what you think your point of difference is as a creative

c/ the market you think you’d like to operate in [direct to consumer, via a gallery, selling in retail, selling at markets, self-represented and selling online…]

d/ bring your own snacks, if needed

e/ pens/paper/notetaking equipment

e/ please be on time, and feel free to arrive from 5.45pm
