Notes to the work:

One of the most beautiful things in this life is when the person you’re in love with says your name while you’re making love. I made this painting in memory of a relationship I was in, in memory of the beautiful love that we made. He used to wear a pink singlet in just this colour. He was lovely in it.

The tenderness of the pink colour is contrasted with the toughness of the metal, and I’ve taken the frame of the bed right back to metal, scored it with a Dremel. It shines and flickers as you move past it. There are holes in the metal, the screws are old, a bit battered. I like the rawness.

That’s how loving is for me: tender and raw at the same time. Soft pink and heavy metal.
