Notes to the work: Peregrine is written on the canvas itself. The falcon. And the older word — wandering, foreign-born, journeying. The central white glyph: my own peregrine, spirit moving upward, becoming free. At the Marsden residency, a wee girl named Peregrine. Perry, for short. Her hands clasped tight before a workshop, vibrating between prayer and joy. I thought of her as I worked. Her name is in this piece, in acknowledgement of her spirit, alongside mine.
