Notes to the work: Three states. One self. Spirit over land, physical body standing on it, and the part of me I don't always admit to moving in darkness, being the freest of them all. A fragmented existence.
Notes to arthouse hang: The rough imperfection of this painting is part of it’s meaning. The tears in the paper intentionally left. Once framed, the imperfections will be felt strongly in contrast to the perfection of the frame, and the intentional rawness of the work will be felt strongly.
Notes to framing: Triple state will be sold framed — conservation-mounted, museum-grade AR70 glass. Framing to be discussed.
Paper painting: this is a term I’ve coined referring to an original painting, built on a printed image — worked in acrylic, pastel, and charcoal until it becomes a painting on paper.
