Notes to work
I made the first iteration of this artwork in 2013, for a show I had at Te Manawa [Musuem for Art and Science]. It was in black and white. I had a framed copy up in the studio this year, and photographed that, leaving the reflection of the studio windows in it, changing the shadows to deep red. I like the extra layers. It feels appropriate to add more depth to the image, corresponding to the years that have passed between then and now. The red in this image represents desire, hot and excellent. The blue is the colour of my partner’s eyes.
This whole artwork’s about desire. I’ve worked hard for my desire. For it to be mine and not someone elses.
It’s about the excitement and delight I find in truly being able to let go in the privacy of a dark and quiet room. To be able to open up in a both a physical and emotional sense, it’s such a beautiful thing. This time, darkness is my friend.

This artwork is a limited edition archival photographic print, with additional highlights drawn over the top, making each print in effect unique. It’s available in four print sizes.

Limited Edition Print
A Limited Edition is, as it suggests, a print made in a limited edition. In this case, 25. That means only 25 of these artworks go out into the world. Each artwork is signed, dated and numbered, with a small amount of drawing in pencil highlighting elements already in the work, making each print in the edition in effect unique.

XLarge, AO: 84 x 119 cm
* Note that the size of the image within the paper varies, according to shape and size of the individual artwork. A white border is left around each artwork to allow for handling..
Print only or Framed
Choose from Print only or Framed option. Prints are framed, overmatted or float-mounted, in a black or white frame. Framing is done by a professional framer, using archival production methods and materials, and with very high quality museum glass [except for if you choose the small frame with clear-glass option].
Timeframes
My studio prints are made to order. The approximate turnaround time for unframed prints is 2 weeks, for framed artwork 5-8 weeks. If you need your artwork for a particular date, please let me know at the time you order, and I'll do my best to make that happen!
