Notes to the work: I picked up this beautiful bone on the shore of Lake Hayes in September 2019. When it came time for making work for the show this beautiful darkness, it seems to perfectly fit what I was trying to say. I like the bareness. The title is in reference to the book, “the lovely bones”, which affected me deeply. This photograph is my way of saying you can get past deep trauma. You can stand strong and proud and clear in the light. As you are. Imperfect and with the scars of the past written on and in your body.
